History
of ABATE of Georgia, District 1. District 1 evolved from the beliefs of ABATE of Georgia.
A few "brothers" recognized the importance of the organization's message and began delivering these words
to their riding friends. From this idea, a few friends became a large family. We began
having monthly meetings to share our concerns for riding safety, motorcyle legislation and community participation.
We organized group rides and began spending time at the local childrens shelter. We made efforts
to present ourselves as positive contributors to our communities. And when ABATE of Georgia was ready to
establish the District program throughout the state, we were ready. We became District 1 in part because
we were at the top of the state, but also because we were already an organized group. The founding members
of this District are very proud of having 21 years worth of events to look back on. Many of those founding
members are still here and still supporting these events. We have always had a strong belief and faith
in each other. We have attempted to educate people as to the preservation of our earth, our freedom
to ride and our love for one another. And we welcome all who would join us and help us to continue in our
quest.

all brands.
Our
MissionThe letters
"ABATE" stand for American Bikers Active Toward Education.
ABATE is composed of motorcyclists
from all surrounding counties in North Georgia, from all walks of life, and who ride all makes of bikes. ABATE is not a club,
it is a politically active organization working on motorcyclist's rights. We are affiliated with national rights groups
like the American Motorcyclist Association
(AMA), the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists
(NCOM).
Our main focus is to keep motorcycle legislation in its proper perspective.
Uninformed legislators enact many restrictive laws. ABATE's goal is to keep our lawmakers informed of our members collective
position on Motorcycle related legislation. Preventing unfair legislation from becoming law is easier than fighting to get
the law repealed.
Rider education and public awareness of motorcyclist are goals of ABATE. We are not against
the wearing of helmets. We believe in "Freedom of Choice" and we encourage all riders to ride safely. An informed
and educated rider is a safer rider. Helmet laws do nothing to prevent an accident, and a helmet only provides the illusion
of safety, while rider education is proven to prevent accidents and save lives.
